Council of Motor Clubs NSW (CMC)

Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club Inc. is a proud member of the Council of Motor Clubs of NSW

The Club has a proud history of organising and running motoring events that encourage the enjoyment of driving classic, vintage and veteran vehicles.

We endeavour to take our cars on roads and runs that suit them best, so off the highways and on to the back-streets is where we often go. Events include rallies, touring trips and involvement in displays and public events to promote classic, vintage and veteran vehicles.

The Club's flagship car show, Motorfest, is held annually on the Sunday of the King's birthday long weekend, at John Wright Park in Tuncurry.

Created by the Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club some thirty years ago, this annual event has become a great day out for families and car buffs alike, often attracting crowds in the thousands.

The 2023 Mid Coast Ford Motorfest saw a record 300 vehicles on display. Motorfest 2024 is set to be even bigger!

The inaugural Hub Rally was created and hosted by Taree Historic Motor Club on the October long weekend in 1972.

Clubs attending were Taree, Tamworth & Coffs Harbour. The rally was at that stage a bi-annual event based in Taree up until 1978 when the Hub was formed.

The rally then became The Great Eastland Rally when it was hosted by Tamworth in 1980 and sponsored by Great Eastland Television which was based in Tamworth.

The Hub Rally hosting clubs include:

...all of which host the rally on a rotation system each year.

Please refer to the Events page for updates on the Hub Rally.

Club Magazine

Bi-monthly, Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club Inc. publishes its own magazine; Exhaust Notes.

Members receive a printed copy of the magazine.

The magazine is exchanged with many other classic car clubs across New South Wales.

Family Comes First

Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club is a family and people club first and a car club second, the cars are simply our common interest. The club is located in the Great Lakes Region at Foster/Tuncurry on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

A Little History

We are a proud club of approximately 150 friendly members, which is steadily growing. Prospective members and their partners are more than welcome to attend the meetings and join our club.

The club also participates in the Great Eastland Hub Rally, hosted alternately by a number of historic car clubs in NSW.

Vision & Community

The vision of the Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club is to encourage preservation, restoration, and use of antique and historically significant vehicles. Our specialties include car shows (show n shine), touring events, where we drive our cars to interesting places, meeting new people and visiting old friends along the way. We have fun while everyone gets to see, hear, experience and enjoy old cars driving on our roads.

As current members you will find information on coming events and reports on recent events, plus the odd photo and story.
