ROCKER COVER RACING
OFFICIAL RULES

Cars
● No engines, motors or propulsion methods.
● No moving weights.
● Wheels can be attached to the car in any manner, but must not
extend beyond the front of the rocker cover.
● Cars shall be based on an actual rocker cover from an automobile
engine.
● Cars must have four wheels, not exceeding 15cm in diameter
including any tyres.
● Wheel must have a non-metallic surface contacting the track.
● Approval to race is solely at the discretion of the organisers.
Critical Dimensions
(Both Rocker Cover cars & Tonka Trucks)
● 80cm maximum overall car length.
● 38cm maximum overall car width.
● 25cm maximum overall car height.
● 15cm maximum wheel and tyre diameter.
● 5kg maximum weight by official scales.
Track Dimensions
● The course shall consist of a launch incline, followed by a level
run.
● The launch incline shall be divided into two lanes, each 45cm
wide.
● The incline shall be approx. three feet high at the rearmost part
and level with the course at the front edge.
● The front edge shall be mitred so as to provide a smooth
transition from the incline to the run out area.
● The official Starting Line shall be towards the rear edge of the
incline.
● A mechanized starting gate that releases both cars simultaneously
is provided.
● The run out section of the course shall consist of two lanes.
● The lanes shall be clearly marked.
● The finish line shall be marked at the end of the run out section.
● The finish line will have an official judging the winners. The
official is a judge of fact.
Running the Race
● Cars will be run in heats of two cars each.
● The cars are to be launched with their front wheels on the
starting line.
● The first car to have its front wheels cross the finish line is
the winner.
● If neither car makes it to the finish line, the car going the
furthest in its lane wins.
● Each car will race in a separate and distinct lane to ensure no
interference with other competitors. If a competing car leaves the
lane that car shall be disqualified.
● Winning cars will advance to the next round until all are
eliminated except one car.
● Entrants will be called to the Staging Area 15 minutes prior to
the race.
● The order of racing will be determined on the day by the
organisers. The results will be determined by the organisers only.
